Meet our Overseer

Welcome to The Church of God located in the Delaware, Maryland and Virginia Region. In this present hour, our world is confronted with diverse challenges. The consequences of sin and separation from God are being displayed across our world. The scriptures reveal that the battle is not with flesh and blood but of a spiritual nature. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesian 6:12). The Church has been called to rise and shine during these challenges. Therefore, it is our desire to use every tool available to spread the good news of the Gospel. The Gospel gives hope, where hopelessness abounds, it exposes the darkness, which tries to hide its deadly efforts, it presents truth that sets the captive free and it encourages the earnest seeker.

We are so thankful that you found your way to this webpage. I hope and pray you will find the hope and light that Jesus gives. Don’t be afraid to reach out. If you are looking for a savior, Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. If you are looking for a place to experience the Savior, the church is here to help you with these truths.
Billy Cox, Regional Overseer

At the age of 15, the Lord called a young man, by the name of Billy Cox into the ministry to preach the Gospel. He began speaking at the local church where he attended until doors began opening in other places. At the age of 17 he began evangelizing.  From that time until age 20, he evangelized mainly in the state of Georgia.
In 1984, he married Deborah Dockery and chose to settle down for a few years in Waycross, Georgia. In 1988, while expecting their first child (Shannon), they felt the call to go into pastoral work. They moved to Montezuma, Georgia to pastor their first church. The Lord blessed and the church grew. While at Montezuma, the Lord blessed them with their second child, Erik.
They stayed in Georgia for nine years pastoring and working in the youth camp ministry. They then felt led to work in the state of Alabama, where they pastored for six and a half years and continued in the camping ministry. After this time, they were led back to Georgia and pastored there until 2008.
In 2008, the Lord led them to Virginia where they have been for twelve years. Here, the Lord added to their family a son in law, Tim.
They have been in the pastoral ministry for thirty-three years and in 2018 were appointed as Regional Overseer consisting of the states of Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.
The years of ministry have been challenging and fulfilling. Today their family has grown to be numerous due to their work in the ministry.
